The Pretentious Song
02:30
|
|
||
My senior quote in college was "I hear it's nice, this time of year in New York"
I wear glasses, but I don't need glasses
I need money but I'm not broke, I call it bohemian
The change I do have goes to coffee, and cigarettes and my stand up...comedian, aspirations
Chorus
So I suck, but no one tells me that I suck
They're all fed up
With my continuous soliloquy, no I don't know that you hate me
I strive to talk like Sylvia Plath, I raise my hand in every class
So you can hear my thoughts on this
I don't know I'm pretentious
My favorite book is the Great Gatsby
I think that says a lot about me
I read it on my own, before eleventh grade
It changed my life, I will never be the same
I bet you say the film did you even read the book?
All that glitter had you hooked
The movie totally missed the point
Lurmhan didn't even try, he just cast a bunch of hot guys
Now I'm getting off the point, you got me all worked up
Adaptations really work me up

Swing Dancing
04:36
|
|
||
Let's go swing dancing
And pick apart tiny little bits of romancing
Let's go for a walk
And get a cup of coffee, then maybe we could talk
Let's go for a drive
And head out to that place, we went to on that one night
The stars were all in sight
And I thought maybe you, might ask me
Pre chorus
If our loves forever
If I thought you were clever
Chorus
And unless you have some evidence to prove me wrong
I'm certain heaven has been here with you all along
And I need you to hold my hand
'Cause it's getting hard to breath
And these are the things that I will say to you
Once you've left me
Please, don't be a stranger
Cause I'd rather have you now, than not have had you ever
Please, play with my fingers
And let me wear your jacket, so that way your cologne, it lingers
Kiss my angles lightly
And when you leave, and say goodbye, just hold me tightly
And I was thinking maybe, you might ask, me
Pre chorus
If our loves forever
If I thought you were clever
Chorus
And Unless you have some evidence to prove me wrong
I'm certain heaven has been here with you all along
And I need you to hold my hand
Cause it's getting hard to breath
And these are the things that I will say to you
Once you've left me
Pre-Chorus

The Sadder Part
05:02
|
|
||
So I've run out of things to say and I'm waiting on a cause
Something a bit more painful, something with more flaws
I'm indescribably terrified, but terror doesn't make music
I'm listening to people talk, exchanging their excuses
I used to write poetry, but my darker days are behind me
Here I am stuck far too far
Ironically stuck in the dark
Chorus
And I, I can't breath
It's the honesty that's tearing me apart, reaches in, takes my heart
And I, I can't see
It's the simplicity, that's ruining my life
Shut off Girls, get to the sadder part
Get to the sadder part
As it turns out, life only give you enough bad stuff
To write an album
But life doesn't give you enough bad stuff
To keep on writing
And I know yes, I'm insane
It's kind of fucked, I have a cynical brain
Chorus
Bridge
Ironically enough, the time when I was happiest
Was when I had a lot to say, 'cause there was a lot of bad stuff
That was coming my way
Obviously I complained about it
Now I can't seem to live without it
You all liked me better when my promises were bruised and battered and fake
Chorus
